My work is about embracing all aspects of humanity and nature with wild humor. Within our current sociopolitical climate of what many call a “divided nation”, I’m committed to demonstrating playful compassion by revealing the absurdity of the conflicts that we create with ourselves and each other.
To do that, I use a variety of media ranging from drawings on paper to mixed media sculptures. I intend to invent a universe that reflects play and conflict simultaneously, through experimentation of form and narrative. Round, soft shapes are combined with hard, sharp lines. Moments of life-altering failure are “no big deal”. The result is that it is somehow crooked yet sturdy, absurd yet delightful, and misshapen yet amicable. This is thus far the world discovered through my ongoing inquiry into what it is to be human.
